Mindful Presence & Peace in the Dolomites

What to expect

Spend a peaceful week in the Dolomites, combining gentle hiking, yoga, and quiet moments in nature. From our cozy base at Rifugio Fanes, we explore the wide alpine meadows and tranquil trails of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, where silence and space invite you to slow down. Morning meditations and soft yoga practices help you awaken the body and mind, while yin yoga and Yoga Nidra in the evenings offer deep relaxation. One day we hike past Lavarella and up to a hidden mountain lake for a mindful break — maybe even a refreshing swim. The week flows at an easy pace, blending movement, rest, and connection — a perfect way to unwind and feel the stillness of the mountains.

Physical requirements

You need to be able to walk comfortably on narrow hiking paths, which are at times covered with lose rocks and tree roots, uphill for 4 hours continuously with small break every hour. You’ll need to carry your own backpack with everything you need for the four days up to the hut. You should regularly go on day-hikes to participate in this hiking-weekend. Since we stay in one location, you’re always free to take a rest day if you wish.

Please note that it is your responsibility to make sure that you are fit enough and able to participate in this trip. If you have never hiked with me before or are unsure whether you meet the physical and technical requirements or whether you have the right equipment, I’d be very happy to speak over the phone with you about the trip in advance. Please keep in mind that, no matter how the routes are rated, multi-day hikes in the Alps may feel difficult if you have not hiked in the Alps before.

Yoga

There will be one morning class on one of the two hiking days and one afternoon class on the other. In the morning, we gently awaken the body with soft stretches, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the mountains. In the afternoon class, I guide you through a relaxing yin yoga session, where we hold postures a little longer to deeply release tired muscles and turn inward. The yoga practice is suitable for everyone — no prior experience is needed.

Accommodation

Rifugio Fanes is one of the most beautiful and most popular huts in the Nature Park Braies-Sennes-Fanes. Here our guests stay in double rooms with shared washing facilities. We share a room with en-suite bathroom. The hut is cosy with comfortable seating areas to just relax and chill as well as a sociable dining room. The food is delicious and varies from typical Ladinian cuisine to Italian and international dishes. The breakfast buffet is rich and plentiful. Besides the hut there is a small cosy yurt where we can practice yoga and meditation.

Travel

Start: Munich main station at around 7:00 am on Day 1.
End: Munich main station at around 8 pm on the last day.

You can travel with me from Munich Main Station to the start of the hike and return to Munich on the last day. Once you have signed up, I will send you the train connections three months before the trip. Alternatively, you are welcome to travel individually and meet the group at the start of the hike, and leave the group at the end of the hike.

Programme

Day 1 – Rifugio Fanes (2060 m)
6 km, ↑ 550 m, ↓ 50 m, 2.5 hrs hiking
We meet at Munich or Brunico main station and continue by bus to Pederü, where the two hour ascend to Rifugio Fanes starts. We start on a wide forest path that leads all the way to the Rifugio. Half-way a small hiking path diverts from the main route that we can take to delve more into the amazing scenery around us. We have lunch at Rifugio Fanes and check into our rooms. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the nearby surroundings. Before dinner we come together for an opening circle and mediation in the yurt.

Day 2 – Ju dla Crusc (2907 m)
12 km, ↑↓800 m, 5 hrs hiking, approx. 8 hrs in total
The hike from the Fanes plateau to the pass of Ju dla Crusc begins just behind Rifugio Lavarella, where a steep ascent leads up to the vast, rugged karst plateau above. As we gain altitude, the landscape opens dramatically, revealing a wild, lunar-like expanse of limestone and scattered alpine flowers. The route continues across the entire plateau, a silent world of wind and rock, until you reach the pass below Kreuzkofel. From there an incredible panorama unfolds stretching from the jagged Dolomites peaks to the distant alpine valleys below. On the way back, the route passes by the tranquil Lé Vert, a beautiful mountain lake that offers the perfect spot for a refreshing swim before returning to the hut. Back at the hut, you can relax during a soothing yin yoga class.

Day 3 – Easy day
We start the day with an optional morning meditation in the yurt for everyone who feels like joining. For those who prefer a slower start, it’s a perfect morning to sleep in and simply meet for breakfast. The rest of the morning is free to enjoy the beautiful nature around the hut, and a bit later we come together for a playful yoga session. Afterwards, we’ll have lunch at Rifugio Lavarella, followed by a leisurely stroll to a nearby lake — an idyllic place to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains. For the brave ones, the lake also invites for a refreshing swim! After dinner, we gather again in the yurt for Yoga Nidra, a deeply relaxing and restorative meditation practice.

Day 4: Lake Conturines (2520m)
12 km, ↑↓ 600 m, 4.5 hrs, approx. 7 hrs in total We start with a gentle yoga session before breakfast. Afterwards, we hike from Rifugio Fanes south and up on the old military road passing lake Limo (2174m) and the hut of Ucia de Gran Fanes (2102m, closed in October). At the intersection Jul dal Ega (2157m) a small hiking path turns westwards. From here it is a steep ascent for about two hours to the lake, which lies half-way up to the peak of Lavarella (3055m). We have a lunchbreak by the lake, and I will guide you through a meditation accompanied by the sound of my Ukulele. The lake is big enough to swim in. We return to the hut on the same way.

Day 5 – Pederü (1548m)
6 km, ↓ 500 m, 1.5 hrs
After early morning yoga, we close up our days full of mindfulness. We can take our time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning our descent to Pederü. There, a bus will take us back to Brunico, from where we continue our journey by train back to Munich.

Note that our hiking days may differ from the described programme due to weather and path conditions or the physical ability of the group.

Make it a week-long trip and combine it with a hut-trek.

Price: 1.095 €
