What to expect

Embark on an unforgettable two-week journey through the heart of the Peruvian Andes, combining ancient Inca heritage, spectacular mountain landscapes, authentic cultural encounters, and one of South America’s most rewarding trekking experiences.

For this journey, I collaborate with an expert local guiding company that I first trekked with in 2016. This long-standing personal connection brings together trusted local expertise and my own experience of the region, allowing me to offer an authentic, immersive, and thoughtfully designed adventure through the Andes.

Our journey begins in historic Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire, where we take time to acclimatize while discovering the city’s fascinating blend of Inca heritage and Spanish colonial architecture. We explore highlights including the Plaza de Armas, Qorikancha, and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, alongside a meaningful visit to a local orphanage.

From Cusco, we venture into the beautiful Sacred Valley, visiting a colourful market and archaeological terraces of Pisac before travelling through the fertile Andean countryside to Ollantaytambo, one of Peru’s best-preserved living Inca towns.

The adventure then takes us higher with a spectacular day hike to Rainbow Mountain. Trekking through the dramatic high-altitude landscape of Vinicunca, we reach approximately 5,200 metres, surrounded by extraordinary views of multicoloured mountains, sweeping valleys, and distant glaciers.

With several days of acclimatization behind us, we set out on the trekking heart of our journey, following lesser-travelled trails through some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Andes. The journey culminates at legendary Machu Picchu. Accompanied by an expert guide, we explore the terraces, temples, sacred spaces, and extraordinary mountain setting of this iconic Inca citadel before returning by train and road to Cusco.
