How 2026 Unfolds and Beyond

An outlook on where Shanti Treks is heading this year

“Step by step, you reach the place you’ve always been heading toward.”
- Oprah Winfrey -

My Intention for 2026

This past year I focused deeply on re-thinking the guiding approach I want to stand for, refining what feels authentic to offer, and getting clearer about the kind of people I hope to bring into the mountains. I have become more confident in defining what I want to sell – and what I don’t. At the same time, I have the aspiration that from next year onwards my work must not only follow my passion but also sustainably support my livelihood.

This means my tours are fewer, more intentional, and designed to fill well. Each trip now has a clear purpose: it is no longer simply about hiking through beautiful landscapes, but about crafting experiences with intention and meaning. I also aim to become more routined and to streamline my processes. For this reason, all Shanti Treks now start and end in Munich.

At the same time, I want to build long-lasting relationships with you as my guests, offering a safe space you can return to, alongside a varied tour program. These relationships extend to the huts as well, which is why some trips will become yearly staples, while others will change from season to season.

The below is an outline of what my tour programme shall look like going forward and a brave outlook what is currently at the make at Shanti Treks. A few things are maybe to early to share, but I believe that manifestation becomes action.

What’s on offer in 2026

Yoga & Hiking

My hiking and yoga trips in the Alps run from May until October. They are designed to reconnect body and mind through nature. By staying in a single alpine hut and moving at a slower, easy-going pace, the experience is generally easier than hut-to-hut treks: you only carry a heavy backpack once to the hut and don’t need to switch accommodations. The timing is less tight, allowing for more tranquillity, flexibility, and space to truly arrive and unwind. Indoors gentle yoga sessions help calm the mind, relax the body, and restore inner balance, while we practice guided meditations directly in the mountains accompanied by the soft sound of my Ukulele.

I have established strong relationships with five alpine mountain huts that offer beautiful yoga rooms, and I plan to return to them regularly. The themes, focus, level, and timing of the trips will change every year though. I want these retreats to become regular touchstones for you – places to recharge your batteries, declutter your mind, and gently hit the reset button.

Hut-to-Hut-Treks

My hut-treks in the Alps start in June until September. They invite you to step into a different rhythm, where the steady pace of hiking from hut to hut makes it easy to leave everyday life behind. These are generally more demanding than the yoga trips: you carry everything you need for several days and move through more technical alpine terrain. While they require fitness, preparation, and proper gear, the focus remains on experiencing and truly feeling the mountains. I value experience offer effort and want you to connect not conquer the mountains. Going forward I plan to offer four to five such tours every year.

Day-Events

Day-long excursions into the Alps once a month on Saturdays and Sundays starting from Munich. Usually, the Day Hike is on Saturday, followed by the Yoga & Hike Day on Sunday.

My vision is for these hikes to become a place of connection and community for anyone joining multi-day tours – a space where you can meet others, hear first-hand about their Shanti Treks experience, and feel more confident before your own first multi-day trip.

Yoga & Hike Days

  • A gentle half-day hike ending with a relaxing yoga class at Haus Spitzingsee
  • For those new to hiking and/or yoga, new to the Alps, or simply looking for a calmer way to be outdoors.

Day Hikes

  • Full-day hikes on more challenging and exposed terrain that are physically demanding
  • For those who want to build endurance and sure-footedness and/or want to prepare for multi-day treks in the Alps.

Events in Munich

These are donation-based events to support projects I work with in South Asia.

  • Yoga & Brunch in the English Garden
  • After-Work Isar Walks

International Trips

Nepal

My treks in Nepal are getting increasingly popular, and I am establishing lovely local relationships built on mutual respect and trust.
  • Focus on slow travel through lesser-known Himalayan regions
  • Emphasis on cultural exchange, connection with and support of local communities
  • Empowering young women in the trekking business world

This year in April in the Annapurna Region and in November in the Everest Region.

All details about my Nepal trips here.

India

Since I first visited India in 2020, I’ve returned almost every year and formed deep friendships along the way. One of these friends has started her Mountain Leader Training at the same time as I did, and now she also works as a Tourist Guide. Over the years, she and I have become like sisters, and we’re excited to finally put our first trip together.

  • Sightseeing and trekking in my favourite Regions: Rajasthan & Uttarakhand
  • Trip details go online in March, and I will offer the first tour this October (!)
More details soon here.

Peru

I trekked to Machu Picchu about ten years ago with a small local company in Cusco. We stayed connected and they have since grown into a highly trusted operator. Hence, a trip is currently in the making.

  • Trekking to Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and the Rainbow Mountains near Cusco
  • Trip details go online in April and I will offer the first tour in April 2027

New Directions

Winter Tours

Last season, I was frequently asked whether I offer winter tours and why not. At the same time, I found myself missing home over Christmas, as well as winter in the Alps. With my community continuing to grow, I have decided to test the waters and begin offering winter tours in 2027.

  • New Year’s in the Alps, snowshoeing for beginners, yoga & winter hiking retreats
  • Trip details go online in May
More details soon here.

Business Seminars & Bildungsurlaub

I have noticed a shift in why people come to the mountains. What once was mainly about enjoyment, exercise, and views has more become a way to calm down and increasingly to cope with stress. Last season in particular, many guests arrived burnt out from demanding jobs and a generally tense world situation.

This motivates me to take my approach of combining nature and hiking with yoga for the mind to a more professional level and add coaching to build resilience and healthy ways of dealing with stress, with the aim of offering seminars on a professional work level.

To refine my professional skills, I will start a certified training this spring as a stress and resilience coach specifically designed for coaching in nature, which is my first step toward offering business seminars and Bildungsurlaub for professionals.
