Day-hike: Brentenjoch

What to expect

Above the beautiful town of Kuftstein and below the rocky faces of the Kaiser mountain range lies the peak of Brentenjoch (1204m). It is at times a steep hike on narrow pathes to the top, yet a beautiful view over the Kaiser and the Inntal and many huts to stop for refreshments await us up there.

The start of this hike is at the Madersperger Monument, which is just over a kilometer away from Kufstein train station and is dedicated to the inventor of the sewing machine. The path winds its way up in nice serpentines above the Kienbergklamm before it runs partly exposed towards the Duxeralm. Above the alpine pasture we hike south on the “Schneerosenweg” to the peak of Brentenjoch. Just below the peak is the hut "Weinberghaus", where we stop for lunch. The road down winds in serpentines until we get back to Kufstein train station.

You need to be able to walk comfortably on narrow hiking paths uphill for 3 hours in total with a small break every hour. The whole hike will take approximately 6 hours of walking with shorter sit-down breaks every hour and a longer break at the hut a short hike after the summit.
