What to expect
This retreat is an invitation to step out of everyday life and into the quiet rhythm of the mountains. Over four days, you are guided through a balanced blend of movement, rest, and connection - both with yourself and with others - held by the peaceful alpine surroundings of the Haus Spitzingsee.
Each morning begins with dynamic vinyasa yoga led by Mie, designed to awaken the body, build strength, and create space through breath and mindful movement. These practices are energizing yet grounding, setting a clear and focused tone for the day ahead. In the late afternoons you are guided through my calming yoga flows and deeply restorative yin sessions that invite you to soften, release tension, and settle into stillness.
Between yoga sessions, the mountains invite you outside. Our guided hikes are very gentle and accessible to enjoy nature at a relaxed pace. We walk together slowly, taking frequent pauses to enjoy panoramic views, fresh mountain air, and the simple joy of being outdoors. The routes lead to nearby low-key peaks and traditional alpine huts, where we enjoy nourishing food.
Evenings are a time to come together in a relaxed, communal way - cooking and sharing meals, singing kirtan, and closing the day with guided yogic sleep (nidra). The large seminar room provides a warm, open space for immersive yoga practices, while the simplicity of hut life supports a deeper sense of presence and ease.
Your Teachers & Guides
What makes this Yoga Retreat truly special is that you are guided by two yoga teachers - one of whom is also a professional mountain leader. For you, this means energizing, advanced vinyasa flows in the morning with Mie, balanced by Johanna’s calming slow flows and deeply restorative yin classes in the afternoon.
Whether you prefer more yoga and gentle walks in nature, or are drawn to more demanding alpine hikes, your preferences can be taken into account. With Johanna and Mie guiding together, you are invited to actively co-create the program with us and shape the retreat in a way that feels right for you.
Mie is a an international vinyasa flow yoga practitioner and an 500-hour ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher by Yoga Alliance) teacher, teaching over a decade, with over 3000 hours of actual teaching hours.
Mie is known for her intentionally sequenced and carefully composed fluid flow. The inspiration of her teaching and practice comes from her exposure to multiple cultures and traditions living and working in various countries. For Mie, yoga practice on the mat is a sacred, free and healing space where she can shed her exterior shield and connect to herself in a deep, authentic way, in the here and now. She feels passionate about sharing this joy of practicing yoga & movements, and creating a safe space where everyone can uncover and connect to their full potential within.

Johanna is an UIMLA qualified International Mountain Leader and Certified Yoga Teacher. Over the past four years, she has successfully led around 40 trekking and hiking tours, primarily in the Alps and the Himalayas. She has worked with various trekking companies and has been guiding exclusively with Shanti Treks for the past two years. More recently, Johanna has begun integrating yoga into her hiking trips to support a deeper connection between body, mind, and nature. Her teaching focuses on slow, grounded yoga flows, yin yoga, yoga nidra, and outdoor meditation.
She completed her training as an UIMLA Mountain Leader through the Association of German Mountain and Ski Guides (VDBS)—a rigorous program covering alpine safety, risk management, group leadership, and nature education at the highest professional level. This qualification forms the foundation of her work in the mountains, as the UIMLA license is one of the few certifications that legally permits professional guiding in mountain terrain worldwide. Alongside that, she is a certified yoga teacher with over ten years of personal practice. She completed two internationally recognized trainings: a 200-hour teacher training in Nepal and a 300-hour training in India, both accredited by the Yoga Alliance.

Accommodation
Haus Spitzingsee is beautifully located just a few meters from the idyllic lake, that invites for refreshing swims in summer, and is surrounded by gentle alpine terrain, making it an ideal place for rest, connection, and outdoor exploration in every season.
Right in the heart of the Tegernsee–Schliersee alpine region it offers private parking, and a public bus stop is just a five-minute walk away, making it easily accessible from Munich even without a car. The surrounding mountains offer a variety of easy hiking options and nature experiences, while the house itself provides a calm and supportive setting for retreats, seminars, and workshops. You will stay in newly renovated 4-bed shared rooms, each with its own washing facilities, while modern shared toilets are located on each floor. In the attic, there are double rooms with private bathrooms, which you can upgrade to at additional costs (min. 2 people).
We have access to a spacious, fully equipped communal kitchen with multiple cooking stations, where we will prepare our own meals together on two of the three evenings. Two large common rooms invite to share our meals and relaxed evenings together. In the morning, a generous breakfast buffet awaits you. Vegetarian options are well supported, and the house aims to accommodate dietary requirements where possible. However, flexibility is appreciated given the mountain location.
Haus Spitzingsee also features two modern seminar and group rooms, making it a wonderful space for yoga practice. We will use the larger of the two rooms exclusively for our yoga sessions throughout the four days, so you are also welcome to practice there in between classes. With its alpine simplicity, thoughtful renovation, and heartfelt atmosphere, the house offers a place where people can arrive, slow down, and truly feel at home in the mountains.
Marta, whom I met and instantly connected with last autumn, took over the lease of the house just a year ago. From the very beginning, she has infused Haus Spitzingsee with her warm, open, and genuinely welcoming energy. Her thoughtful approach and love for the place help create an atmosphere where everyone can truly relax and feel at home.

Programme
As we are two yoga teachers and a professional mountain leader, we are flexible in how we shape the days. This means that the yoga classes will be adapted to the experience level and needs of the group. Next to the hikes, we can also offer an additional yoga workshop, or I can head out on a more advanced hike with those who would like a full day in the mountains. If you let us know your preferences in advance, we are happy to take them into account when finalising the program.
Thursday – Arrival
We travel by train and bus, arriving directly at Haus Spitzingsee. After checking into our rooms and settling in, we enjoy a gentle walk around the area and a refreshing swim in the lake. In the late afternoon we gather in the yoga shala for an opening circle and our first yoga practice. In the evening, we come together in the beautiful open-plan kitchen to prepare and enjoy a nourishing meal as a group.
Friday – Explore outdoors
We begin the day with an early-morning Vinyasa Flow led by Mie, followed by a leisurely breakfast. We then set off on a 3–4 hour hike, including gentle ascents and a longer break at a scenic viewpoint. On the way we stop at a traditional hut for lunch. In the afternoon, I invite you to a gentle yoga flow to unwind and restore. In the evening, we dine at a nearby restaurant and enjoy a hearty meal. Afterwards, we gather in the yoga shala for a joyful evening of Kirtan, with Mie on the harmonium and me accompanying her on the ukulele.
Saturday – Turn inward
Today is dedicated to slowing down and turning inward. The day begins with Mie’s Vinyasa class, followed by breakfast. Afterwards, we embark on a mindful walk, pausing for a calming meditation in nature and enjoying our packed lunch along the way. In the afternoon, we meet again in the yoga shala for a soothing Yin Yoga session, holding poses for longer periods to gently release tension and stress. Later, Mie and I prepare dinner while you have time to enjoy a grounding swim, reflect, or simply relax outdoors. We end this inward-focused day with Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, gently guiding you into a state of deep physical relaxation allowing inner resources of clarity, integration, and restoration to unfold.
Sunday – Departure
After a leisurely breakfast, we meet once more in the yoga room for a final, energizing Vinyasa class with Mie, followed by a closing circle. Before lunch, there is time to enjoy one last refreshing swim in the lake. We then return to Munich by public transport, arriving in good time for your onward travels.
Note that our hiking days may differ from the described programme due to weather and path conditions or the physical ability of the group.
