Time for change

What to expect

I want to lead a retreat in the mountains where you can plant a seed for change – however small or big it may be. Over the past two years, many people have approached me, asking about my story of leaving a secure job to follow my own path as a self-employed guide. During this weekend, I want to share the lessons I’ve learned along the way, offer gentle encouragement to help you find inspiration, and give you space to explore what change might look like for you. Most importantly, I want to bring together like-minded people. Because when you’re about to take a leap, one of the most powerful things you can do is surround yourself with people who share the same energy and remind you that change is possible.

Physical requirements

You need to be able to walk comfortably on narrow hiking paths, which are at times covered with lose rocks and tree roots, uphill for 4 hours continuously with small break every hour. You’ll need to carry your own backpack with everything you need for the four days up to the hut. You should regularly go on day-hikes to participate in this hiking-weekend. Since we stay in one location, you’re always free to take a rest day if you wish.

Fitness

Easy to Medium (2/5)
A mix of longer and shorter distances and altitude gain each day.

Difficulty

Medium (2/5)
Mostly narrow hiking paths, which are at times steep.

Please note that it is your responsibility to make sure that you are fit enough and able to participate in this trip. If you have never hiked with me before or are unsure whether you meet the physical and technical requirements or whether you have the right equipment, I’d be very happy to speak over the phone with you about the trip in advance. Please keep in mind that, no matter how the routes are rated, multi-day hikes in the Alps may feel difficult if you have not hiked in the Alps before.

Yoga
In the morning classes, we gently awaken the body with soft stretches, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the mountains. After our hikes, I guide you through relaxing yin yoga sessions, where we hold postures for longer to deeply release tired muscles and turn inward. The yoga practice is suitable for everyone – no prior experience is needed.

Accommodation

At Meißner Haus, a traditional mountain hut, we stay in shared rooms, exclusively within our group to ensure a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The hut features newly renovated shared washing facilities, including showers, a warm and inviting common room, and a spacious sun terrace that we share with fellow hikers. Each day, the hut provides a breakfast buffet and a hearty three-course vegetarian or vegan dinner. A packed lunch can be made fresh from the breakfast buffet. And there's a tasty selection of local Austrian dishes available from the hut's menu. While the kitchen does its best to accommodate dietary restrictions, please note that options may be limited due to the hut’s remote location and basic setup. If you have any specific dietary needs, be sure to inform us in advance so we can plan accordingly.

The team at Meißner Haus is simply wonderful – open, helpful, and refreshingly down-to-earth. Ther is such a relaxed vibe that you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Sven has been running the hut for many years, and it really shows: the team works together seamlessly, with warmth and genuine passion. That easy-going atmosphere is a big part of what makes Meißnerhaus such a special place.

Programme

Day 1 - Meißner Haus (1720 m)
6 km, ↑700 m, ↓50 m, 3 hrs walking time (not including breaks)
We meet at Munich or Innsbruck main station and continue by bus to the small village of Mühltal, where our hike to Meißner Haus begins. The trail follows a gravel path gently uphill through a peaceful river valley until the hut comes into view on a wide green meadow. In the afternoon, we’ll begin with a simple exercise to explore the week’s theme and close with a meditation to set our intention.

Day 2 – Boscheben (2035 m)
2 km, ↑↓ 350 m, 2 hrs
After Yoga and breakfast, we follow a peaceful path winds gently through a quiet pine forest, leading us to the cozy Boscheben hut. Somewhat hidden, we find a beautiful lookout spot up there, where we spend the afternoon together. I’ll share my journey into self-employment, and you’ll have the space to share your own dreams and visions. On the way back, we can relax at Boscheben-Hut with a cup of coffee, enjoy some delicious cakes, and sink into the comfy sun loungers.

Day 3 - Blue lake (2235 m)
10 km, ↑↓ 650 m, 4 hrs
Today is all about hiking - We start on an easy gravel path following the river valley before narrowing into a charming hiking trail. At the end of the valley, we reach a series of small blue lakes—perfect for a refreshing swim. After eating our packed lunch, we continue exploring our theme of change and I guide you through a meditation accompanied by the sounds of my Ukulele. Back at the hut, you can relax during a soothing yin yoga class.

Day 4 – Descent
6 km, ↑50 m, ↓700 m, 2 hrs
After early morning yoga, we close up our days full of change. We can take our time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning our descent to Ellbögen. There, a bus will take us back to Innsbruck, from where we continue our journey by train back to Munich.

Note that our hiking days may differ from the described programme due to weather and path conditions or the physical ability of the group.

Make it  week-long trip and combine it with a hut-trek.
